Do You Know Your Movie Workplaces?

Ah, work. It’s what many of us are going to celebrate not doing this Labor Day weekend! Some movies depict the drudgery of office life while others (often rom-coms) make it all seem so glamorous. Do you know your movie offices? Take my quiz and find out.

Buzz Book Club: The End of The Wishbones

Welcome back, Buzz Book Club readers! We’ve finally come to the end of Tom Perrotta’s The Wishbones and unfortunately the main character, Dave, just might be one of the least appealing protagonists I’ve come across. But that’s how it goes sometimes. Mostly I’m still scratching my head at the fact that someone’s going to make a movie out of this. The folks in charge of bringing this to the screen will hopefully (maybe?) make Dave a little less awful.

Anyway, here’s how the Book Club goes if you’re new: Every week I’ve suggested chapters to complete by the next post (which, in this case, was every Friday in August). In these weekly Book Club posts, I posited a few questions to prompt discussion in the comments section.

Stay tuned for the announcement of the September selection for the Buzz Book Club!

To discuss the final section of The Wishbones, in which we read from the beginning of the chapter titled “Karma House” through the end of the book,

TNT Pays Tolls to Promote Raising the Bar

When I saw this press release on the Internet, it took me a few billion reads to understand the connection between TNT paying road tolls for the lovely people of Atlanta, Orlando, Philadelphia, and Chicago and the network’s new legal drama Raising the Bar. That’s right, over this Labor Day weekend TNT is going to spring for two hours of free tolls, and they’re also premiering a new show. The connection eluded me, but finally, I found this helpful quote in the release:

“With so many people on the roads Labor Day weekend, it’s a perfect time to get our message out about the premiere of this outstanding new drama series,” said Tricia Melton, senior vice president of marketing for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “We are literally raising the bar by paying tolls on Labor Day weekend.”

Get it? Toll booths have bars! They lift up when you pay! Yeah, I think it’s a stretch too, but hey, they got me writing about it, I guess.

Anyway, I think TNT could have gotten a lot more creative with the the word “bar” and paying for stuff, so to see the other campaigns the network should have gone with, just

Doherty’s Take on sTori’s Tell All Book!

Shannen Doherty vs sTori Tpelling

Former Beverly Hills, 90210 actress Shannen Doherty aka “Brenda Walsh” had a ‘lil something to say about Tori Spelling’s new book entitled  “sTori Telling“!

Spelling says Doherty was “arrogant” and a “bad influence” on the set 90210!

I didn’t read it, nor would I. My friends called me and said, ‘Oh, she said this and this.’ Tori and I were friends, but, along the way, people grow in different directions. I did my thing, she did her thing, and that was pretty much it.”

Doherty also said she’s not interested in writing her own book…

My book would be boring because I would never write about my castmates, whether I liked them or not. When you’re working on a set, that’s a sacred and private experience. It’s not supposed to end up in a book for somebody to make money off of.”

Spelling recently pulled out of appearing in the new “90210” spin-off  just after Doherty signed on to join the cast… meooowwww
