Red Carpet
Scene & Heard: Shailene Woodley’s Fashion Philosophy
Jan 31st
“I only buy used clothes, so thrift stores, trade-in stores, vintage stores…I struggled for a while going on these red carpets, and wearing makeup that didn’t represent my morals…I do wear those fancy dresses and suits, but I am not keeping them.”–The Descendants starlet Shailene Woodley confesses that she’s not hoarding a closet full of couture. I admire her grungy-yet-Zen approach to fashion…just as long as she doesn’t try to pry the Dior out of my hands.
Do you think it’s chic or creepy that Shay only wants to wear used duds?

Hot & Not: Blake Lively & Chloe Moretz
Jan 27th
Spotted: Blake Lively and Chloe Moretz both attending the Jason Wu for Target fete, but only one starlet ruled the red carpet. While I adore B’s peplum-accented dress, Chloe also dons B&W but looks more like Colonel Sanders’ long-lost niece.
Am I the only one who thinks B should start schooling poor Chloe on being a true fashionista? XOXO.

It Girls of the Week: Best Dressed at Golden Globes!
Jan 20th
In honor of Gossip Girl author Cecily von Ziegesar’s series It Girl, each week we celebrate the women who are making headlines. This week, we look at the ladies who won our vote for the best dressed at the Golden Globes! Check them out below:
- Claire Danes – Looking stunning in a J. Mendel dress, Claire’s sophisticated look took our breath away when she walked out on the red carpet. And Gossip Girl stylist Eric Daman was in agreement. “I think Claire Danes in the J. Mendel dress really stole it for me,” he said. “I just thought it was perfectly tasteful. It wasn’t too over the top. For who she is and for her age, I just thought she looked fabulous.” Not only did she get our vote for one of the most stunning guests there, she also walked away with a Best Actress Award. Not a bad way to end the evening.
- Shailene Woodley – Even though she didn’t take home an award for the Supporting Actress category she was nominated for with her role in The Descendents, Shailene looked amazing at the ceremony in her sleeveless silver Marchesa dress. We’ll overlook the fact that she hit up the after-party in “five-finger” shoes!
- Angelina Jolie – While Brad Pitt can be the perfect accessory for any woman, Angelina held her own at the awards show in an Atelier Versace gown. The splash of red on the top of her one-shoulder dress complimented her other beautiful accessory: a red Christian Louboutin ‘Pharaon’ clutch.

Cecily Von Ziegesar Recaps “The End of the Affair”
Jan 18th
Who better to recap each week’s new episode of Gossip Girl than author Cecily von Ziegesar? In this week’s edition, she talks about the emotional distress the episode gave her and chooses the dress that dazzled her most.
I don’t know about you, but last night I went into a sort of trance while watching. Not that I don’t always go into a fascinated, Campari-induced trance, but I just couldn’t believe that we were already out of the hospital and the wedding was going ahead as planned and no one running around freaking out like the world was ending. Even Chuck was sort of calm about the fact that he had almost died and then come to only to find that Blair wanted nothing to do with him. And what’s with Blair and God? Is she going to become a nun? Are they all still in shock? I know I am. I don’t think I’ll ever be the same again. This goes beyond drama. This feels like brain freeze — a pleasurable brain freeze (like the kind you get from amazingly good, really cold ice cream).
High point(s): there are actually two:
- Dan and Serena’s New Year’s eve kiss. I knew it was coming and I thought I’d be sort of “ho-hum” about it. But the spark is still there and I loved their alarmed expressions afterwards which I think were REAL, if you know what I mean. Like, not acted?
- Vera Wang’s little guest appearance at her store. She’s so beautiful and quiet. And what a nice thing to do for your life’s work—design amazing wedding dresses. Sigh.
Low point(s): there are actually two of these as well:
- Blair talking to God all the time. I miss the old spunky Blair and I want her back. But I’d much rather she become a nun than marry Louis. He’s a dweeb.
- The real Charlie Rhodes. She just didn’t do it for me. I thought she’d be more like… Ivy.
Hottest boy: I know I do this almost every time, but Chuck, Dan, and Nate all looked pretty amazing last night. They’re aging well those boys. Very well. And all three of them are nice too. And smart. I should know—I’ve met them. Sigh.
Prettiest look: I loved Serena’s cropped striped cardigan paired with that spangly tutu of a dress right at the start of the show. She looked beautiful, fun and totally hip, which is what I aspire to when I get dressed in the morning (but usually I fail). Of course, most bloggers blog in stained pjs because they don’t actually have to leave the house to work. Not Serena though—she blogs in couture.
Best New Yorky spot you don’t usually see on TV: Julliard. In fact I’ve never seen it at all, me being ungifted in the arts. (Although I hear they offer night school piano lessons for people like me!) So thanks for that sneak peak. It looks nice with the red carpeting and modern chairs. Perhaps I’ll check it out.
Best line: Dan saying to Chuck over and over, “I live in Brooklyn,” which is the line he uses as an excuse for not knowing anything about anything even though he always seems to know everything about everything. Which is sort of like me. Oh, and I live in Brooklyn too.
Can’t wait for next week to boggle my mind.
You know you love it,
xoxo

Hot Mess: Dianna Agron at the Golden Globes
Jan 16th
Last night, Hollywood was out in full force for the Golden Globe awards, and while I could post pics of Angelina looking luxe or Jessica Alba being beautiful, isn’t it much more delicious to point our perfectly manicured fingers at all those who bombed on the red carpet? I thought so too.
Exhibit A, poor Dianna Agron, who looked like a bloody pinata in this Giles dress and Fred Leighton jewels. Maybe our little Glee girl has spent so long in a Cheerios uniform that she’s forgotten how to dress herself…XOXO.

OMFGorgeous: Shailene Woodley
Jan 13th
White is quickly emerging as the color du jour around the awards show circuit, but while Raven Symone showed us how not to go pale, Shailene Woodley stunned in a slinky Calvin Klein dress at last night’s Critic’s Choice Movie Awards, don’t you agree?
Riddle me this my loves: does Shay have a shot at scooping up some trophies for her role in The Descendants, or will she have to settle for only ruling the red carpet this season?

Mila Kunis Makes a Red Carpet Misstep
Jan 9th
It isn’t often that Mila Kunis makes a red carpet misstep. But this Black Swan star pranced right into a fashion disaster at the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital gala. While I do love this Prabal Gurung’s pretty purple color, the design makes it look like she took a wrong turn on the way to the Ice Capades, don’t you agree, darlings? Tell me, is there another celeb who could’ve pulled off this hard-to-wear style?
