Number Crunching: This Week’s TV Ratings

  • It's hot in this Kitchen. Hell's Kitchen got off to a blazing start this week, with 12.5 million viewers for its season premiere, finishing second in its timeslot behind Dancing with the Stars.
  • Kids choose to watch. The Kids' Choice Awards hit a record high last weekend, pulling in 7.4 million viewers — up significantly from last year's 6.1 million watchers.
  • Who needs Britney? Even minus a stunt like an appearance by Britney Spears, How I Met Your Mother had another pretty good week, pulling in 9.7 million viewers.
  • Well, it's something. America's Next Top Model has been having a dismal season, but there was a wee bit of good news this week: For the first time this season, it (barely) topped 4 million viewers, with 4.04 million folks tuning in.
  • Nobody wants to date this Bachelor. ABC's current installment of The Bachelor hasn't been doing so well so far, either. This week's episode pulled in an estimated 8.8 million viewers — but only 7.5 million of them were still watching after the first half-hour.
  • Hello, Thursday television! For the first time in months, Thursday TV looked something like normal, with several shows returning: My Name is Earl brought in 7.5 million viewers, CSI drew 20.4 million viewers, and Without a Trace got 15.4 million viewers.
