What’s It Like To Be On Gossip Girl?

Ever wonder what it’d be like to be on Gossip Girl? When we found out that the newest host of Gurl.com’s Sexy Times Sara Hoots had a scene with Chace Crawford in one episode (“Belles de Jour”), we asked her to give us all the dirt!
How She Got The Part – I was recommended to the casting director of Gossip Girl through the work I did on White Collar. From there I was called in to audition. I feel super lucky to have gotten the part considering the amazing girls that were in that room!
What It Was Like On Set – I was super excited to get to set since this was my first (hopefully not last) time working for this series. It’s a whole lot of hurry up and wait when you’re there, though. But luckily I have the patience of a saint and the attention span of a gold fish so I can easily keep myself entertained waiting for my call time. The scene took place at Nate’s apartment, so when we began blocking out the scene it was really cool to see how it looked sitting from Nate’s couch!
What It Was Like Working With Chace Crawford – Quick! Lol! Honestly, it was probably the shortest and easiest day I’ve ever had on set (just my luck, right?) But he was amazing! It’s always nice to see when someone looks just as good in person as they do on a show.
The Scene – My scene was meant to get Nate in trouble with a girl he was trying to impress. A girl he was trying to convince he wasn’t a player, to be more specific! So when he came home, I was already there with a girlfriend of mine and we were rocking on Guitar Hero in our skivvies after what was obviously a fun night…Well, it probably wouldn’t have been awkward [being in my bra and panties] if it was just Chace…but with the large production crew, it got a little intimidating having to dance around!
Advice For Being Confident and Sexy – You can’t be sexy if you aren’t confident! And honestly, a girl who is more subtle in her sensuality is much more sexy than a girl who is putting it all out there. And also, never pretend to be something you’re not! If you’re talking to a cute guy who is a huge football fan, do not go in to how you’re “one of the guys” who love watching the game and drinking a beer….when the only tight end you know belongs to Chace Crawford! Nothing is sexier to a guy then owning who you are! Also, when it comes to being confidently sexy. I truly believe the more confident girls are about themselves and their bodies, the better decisions they’ll make when it comes to relationships and sex. It’s important to know that some guy doesn’t validate who you are!
All About Her New Gurl.com Series “Sexy Times” - [I get my advice in the series from] a few different places. First and foremost, I do a lot of research from recent studies at various universities and major campaigns. And while I do get some from my own personal experiences, I get a lot of sound advice from my parents….I KNOW! My parentals! Something no one ever wants to admit, but they have some good things to say now and then. I also never want to give advice that is one sided. It’s not up to me to make your decisions in life, but I want to inform you to the best of my abilities so you will make the best choice for YOU! Spotted: Kellan Lutz and his attention hungry GF Sharni Vinson at the Kentucky Derby’s famed Barnstable Brown bash this weekend. I desperately want to lust over Kel the way I used to, but between his off-kilter hair color and that dorky hat (I am loving his perfectly preppy Vineyard Vines tie, though), this once-uber hottie seems just so-so. Does the Twilight hunk seem somehow less studly than he used to be? Or am I just jealz because he’s off the market?

In honor of Gossip Girl author Cecily von Ziegesar’s series It Girl, each week we celebrate the women who are making headlines. This week, we look at the ladies who snagged a coveted Oscar nomination! Check them out below:
- Rooney Mara – Nominated for Best Actress for her role as Lisbeth Salander in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, her character is a troubled young woman who is hired as a research assistant by a journalist investigating a decades-old mystery. Just as intense as the movie was = how intense of an actress Rooney turned out to be. And it showed enough to get the attention of the Academy.
- Michelle Williams – When someone asks you to play Marylin Monroe in a movie, you say, “When do I start?!” Michelle Williams got the honor of portraying the legendary actress in My Week With Marilyn, scoring her the nod. She also just picked up a Golden Globe award for the same role!
- Melissa McCarthy – Her movie Bridesmaids made us fall in love with puppies, Wilson Phillips and laughing all over again! Melissa is being nominated in the best supporting actress category for her role as the crude sister of the groom.
