Leighton Meester is on the April 2012 Marie Claire Cover

Spotted: Leighton Meester looking gorgeous on the April 2012 cover of Marie Claire magazine. The issue hits newsstands on March 20 but we got to see some of the beautiful pics and interesting things she had to say already!

On Her Family: “My family has a crazy history. Probably the craziest I’ve heard of. I look back now and I see it in a nice light. It wasn’t uncomplicated. But I played outside. I went to the beach. There were happy, fun times.”

On Being a Young Actress & Model: “I worked a lot, even though I was just a kid. It seemed normal to me.”

On Dating & Marriage: “I never had a boyfriend until I was 18. It’s nice, I guess — when you like them. But it isn’t the most important thing. I’m not sure I ever want to get married. The only time a relationship is good is when you really love them. I don’t want to hang out with some guy I just like.”

Music Spotlight: Feist “Graveyard”

Feist recording music

In “Cross Rhodes” — Season 5, Episode 16 — things get sad at the end of the episode when CeCe passes away. The music playing in the background sets the tone for the mood we’re all in. The song is “Graveyard” by Feist.

Feist (full name: Leslie Feist) has been singing solo since 1999. Her music has been featured on Gossip Girl in the past. “Graveyard” appears on her latest album, “Metals.”

Check out the lyrics to “Graveyard” and listen to the song below.

The graveyard, the graveyard all full of light
The only age, the beating heart is empty of life
Dirt and grass, a shadow heart; the moon sails past
Blood as ice is an empty crisis, lonely it lies

Whoa-ah-ah-ah ah-ah, bring ‘em all back to life [x4]

Roots and lies, roots and lies, our family tree is old
From there we climb the golden hill, calmly will eternity
I held your heart, a giant wand; all tell of sorrow
And history begins to be blue and brown eyes

Whoa-ah-ah-ah ah-ah, bring ‘em all back to life [x8]

In “Crazy, Cupid Love” (Season 5, Episode 15) of Gossip Girl, we attended Nate’s high school throwback party where St. Vincent (aka Annie Erin Clark) played her songs “Cheerleader” and “Cruel” off of the album “Strange Mercy” in the background as all the drama went down.

St. Vincent’s music is a mix of indie rock, pop, and jazz. She plays guitar, bass, organ, and piano, while her music also often features cellos, violins, flutes, clarinets and trumpets. Having grown up in Dallas, Texas, she began playing the guitar when she was 12 and, as a teenager, worked as the tour manager for her uncle’s band Tuck & Patti. She attended Berklee College of Music and then released her debut album “Marry Me” in 2007.

Listen to more of St. Vincent’s music on her MySpace page, and check out the video from the show below! What do you think of the St. Vincent songs that were featured on the episode?

New Juicy Read: Two Truths and a Lie

Two Truths and a LieThe thing about gossip is that while most of the time it’s the truth, sometimes it’s just a plain lie. That’s why we’re super excited to sit by the fireplace and curl up with the latest book in The Lying Game series Two Truths and a Lie, by Sara Shepard.

The series (which inspired the hit ABC Family TV show by the same name) follows twin sisters Emma and Sutton. In the books, Sutton’s dead and she’s left Emma behind to solve her murder. Emma’s crush Ethan and Sutton’s killer are the only other ones who know about the murder, which means the killer knows Emma isn’t who she claims to be, and she’s likely to be the next victim!

Two Truths and a Lie focuses on whether Thayer, a mysterious character who has returned, was the love of Sutton’s life — or her murderer!

In Gossip Girl‘s episode “The Back Up Dan” (season 5, episode 14), we all cringed a little as Blair went with Louis at the end of the show. The song playing in the background gave the whole scene an eerie feel, too. That song was “Future This” by The Big Pink.

The band is an electro-rockduo from London comprised of Robbie Furze and Milo Cordell. Their music has been featured on previous episodes of Gossip Girl. Listen to some of their other songs for free at MySpace and like them on Facebook to stay up to date on their tour and other news.

Check out the video below to hear the song that played in “The Back Up Dan”. What do you think about it? Let us know in a comment below!
