Cecily von Ziegesar Recaps “Raiders of the Lost Art”

Who better to recap each week’s new episode of Gossip Girl than author Cecily von Ziegesar? Find out all her favorite moments in “Raiders of the Lost Art” (Season 5, Episode 22).

Hey People,

I have to say I spent much of last night’s episode demanding — in between slurps of Campari, — “Wait, wait, what did she just say? Where is he going? What’s happening? What’s happening?” I’ve never been good with mysteries. I’m too impatient and I don’t like to be misled. And boy, last night’s episode was jam-packed with red herrings and casually tossed out lines. Maybe I should watch it again. So many subtleties, so little time….

Here are some of my favorite moments (as I remember them):

Best Dress: Serena looked pretty and young and footloose and fancy-free (for a change) in that short black dress with the white flowers all over it. Trés adorable.

Best scheming duo: Chuck and Blair, doing what they do best, without tripping over any of their emotional baggage.

Best Masseur: Dorota oiling and pummeling Diana for information was genius.

Best liar: Nate. His expression never changes, even when he’s lying through his perfect eyebrows.

Prettiest face: There was something tea-cup delicate about Chuck’s face last night—the fact that his entire identity hung in the balance was written all over it. He just needs someone to hold his hand and tell him that he’s loved. We love you Chuck.

Biggest surprise: I won’t spoil it for those of you who haven’t had a chance to watch yet, but sometimes the best surprises come in ugly packages and are given to us by total Bassholes.

Lingering question: Why oh why is Serena so so so hung up on finding out who Gossip Girl is? Does she want to take her out? Become allies? Torture her? I’d much rather Gossip Girl remain a mystery. Wouldn’t you?

You know you love it,

-CvZ

Get The Look For Less: Blair Waldorf in “It Girl, Interrupted”

Blair Waldorf Floral Dress It Girl Interrupted

In the Gossip Girl episode, “It Girl, Interrupted“, the characters attended a Kiki de Montparnasse party. Serena was seen wearing an embellished coat by Gryphon and a DVF Harper bag earlier in the episode and switched into a black jacquard dress by Zara for the party. Also in the episode, Blair played princess for the last time in honor of the dissolution of her marriage with Louis by wearing a ruffled Oscar de la Renta gown on the steps of the Met.

My favorite look of this episode was Blair’s floral orchid dress by Peter Som that she wore while meeting with Chuck. She paired the dress with a Dior Cruise 2010 quilted bag and a quartz bracelet by Bounkit. You can get the look with J. Crew’s floral dress for $188 and Nine West’s quilted beige bag for $51.

Pinterest Inspiration Board: Serena van der Woodsen’s Style

Want to steal Serena van der Woodsen’s style? Karissa Bowers of GossipGirlFashion.net created an exclusive Pinterest board for us to showcase looks inspired by S.

Serena formerly wore flowy pieces to reflect her free spirit, but she has moved on to a more grown-up version of that look. She often wears pieces embellished with sequins or beads. Serena’s color palette generally consists of warm colors in the fall and pastel colors for the spring. Her shoes are often snakeskin or studded. Look for pieces with those features to get Serena’s look.

Pinterest Inspiration Board: Blair Waldorf’s Style

Want to steal Blair Waldorf’s style? Karissa Bowers of GossipGirlFashion.net created exclusive Pinterest boards for us to showcase looks inspired by the Queen B.

Blair Waldorf has evolved from wearing school uniforms accessorized with headbands to sophisticated pieces to suit her high society style. Blair often wears structured pieces, floral patterns or clothes with lace details. She favors high-waisted skirts and shift dresses and frequently pairs them with bow tie pumps or oxford pumps. To get Blair’s style, look for pieces that are architectural and would suit an almost-princess like Blair.

Scene & Heard: Emma Stone Workout Rage

“Running is bad for your knees and I like to do things I actually enjoy, like going for a swim. I had a trainer during Spider-Man and I discovered I have deep-seated rage when I’m holding heavy weights over my head. Whatever dormant anger I have in me, that’s where it comes out.

That’s not the kind of working out I want to do. I would much rather sleep at night than want to throw a weight across a room at someone. I’m usually a pretty peaceful person, but for some reason when I get in the gym something bubbles up in me.” Emma Stone confesses that her flame-colored locks aren’t the only fiery part of her personality.

Am I the only one who thinks that a roid-lessly raging Emma would be even funnier than her usually placid self?

Photo Gallery: Top Fashion from Gossip Girl So Far!

Gossip Girl is pretty much known for the fashion, so we thought it was only appropriate to count down some of the best outfits from the show’s 100 episodes so far! We reached out to GG fashion expert Karissa Bowers, whose site GossipGirlFashion.net recaps the outfits of each episode and tells you how to get the look.

Check out her favorite styles in the photo gallery below, and let us know in a comment which was your favorite one!

Blair Waldorf Must Pie

This is perhaps my favorite Blair outfit ever worn on Gossip Girl. Her Marc by Marc Jacobs lace dress is paired perfectly with a Trina Turk ‘Espresso’ capelet, lace tights, and a signature headband. The gold monochromatic color scheme is great for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Hi Society

Serena manages to make a school uniform cute by wearing a Nanette Lepore ‘Symphony’ cardigan with over-the-knee socks and Moschino T-Strap Booties.

Summer Kind of Wonderful

Blair wears an Alice + Olivia ‘Garden Party’ dress that sold out as soon as it was featured on the show. The outfit is accessorized with a Kate Spade “Little Compton” bag and a Garland Collection Monogrammed necklace. It’s the perfect look for the Hamptons during the summer.

Serena’s Oscar de la Renta gown she wears to the white party is one of my favorite gowns ever worn on the show. The look is completed with a crystal headband.

The Grandfather

Not only do I love Blair’s outfit here but I also love her hair and makeup; her red lipstick complements her blue and white dress well. Blair is wearing a Herve Leger Bandage dress, a Joie sequin cardigan, and an Erikson Beamon Anchor necklace.

The Lost Boy

In Season 3, Serena’s style begins to evolve from a free-spirited, Kate Moss inspired look to a more refined bohemian look. She wears a beaded Matthew Williamson dress with Zara heels and a Treesje Jovi bag.

Dan de Fleurette

Jenny starts off the new school year at Constance Billard in a Rag & Bone vest, BCBG MAX AZRIA tank, Jimmy Choo ‘Emanuel’ sandals, and carries a Be&D ‘Garbo’ satchel. Her minions don’t approve of this headband-free look but I think it’s one of Jenny’s best outfits in Season 3.

Enough About Eve

Blair wears an emerald Grace Sun sheath dress that looks great with her olive skin tone. She pairs the dress with a yellow Paige Gamble Ostrich Lunchbox and purple Nicholas Kirkwood platform heels; creating an interesting color scheme.

Belles de Jour

The Paris set Gossip Girl Season 4 premiere featured some of the best looks of the season but the one that really stood out to me was Serena’s George Chakra ‘Cage Corset’ dress with a Rag & Bone blazer layered over it. I also really love the J. Crew “Camden” brogues she wears with this outfit. She tops off this great outfit with Yestadt Millinary ’76 Trombones’ hat.

This list of favorite looks wouldn’t be complete without Blair’s wedding gown. Her Vera Wang Spring 2011 Gown turns Blair into one of the most beautiful brides. The royal wedding dress had to be regal enough for a princess and I think the Vera Wang gown definitely is.

Gossip Girl Season 5 Preview Pics: Blair Waldorf Goes Wedding Dress Shopping!

Leighton Meester on location for 'Gossip Girl' outside the Vera Wang store in the Upper East Side

Picture by: Doug Meszler / Splash News

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester was recently spotted outside the Vera Wang Bridal Boutique in NYC which can only mean one thing…Blair Waldorf’s dress is going to be a Vera original! (Not that anyone would expect anything less from a Manhattan princess though!)

I adore the challenge of creating truly modern clothes, where a woman’s personality and sense of self are revealed. I want people to see the dress, but focus on the woman.” – Vera Wang. Well, sounds like B and V are just the right match! (They even think alike!)

Knowing Blair, she probably won’t be satisfied until she’s found the most perfect wedding gown for her dream wedding, and the dress has to 100% impress. Even with a baby on the way, Blair will certainly see to it that her royal nuptials happen without any unexpected bumps!

Snow White

Blair sticks to the appropriate color scheme of the day…white! The blushing bride kept warm in a sophisticated white coat and gorgeous hat while shopping for the wedding dress of her dreams.

The Royal Treatment

Blair is met by dress experts and whisked into the luxurious world of the Vera Wang Bridal Boutique. (Oh! And is that a Loewe’s orange ‘Amazona’ bag we spy? Oo la la!)

The One

Could this be the lucky gown that B has chosen? She’d probably wouldn’t go for a window display option though…she’d have hers custom-made just like every other proper princess before her!

The Dignified Princess-to-be Emerges

Blair exits Vera Wang looking as refined and elegant as ever! And, ladies and gentleman, this optimistic and determined face is that of a lady on a mission!

Wedding Drama

Uh oh! B’s worried expression spells trouble. Could she have spotted an arch enemy or is experiencing baby daddy blues again?

A Little Birdie Told Us

Twitter bird was it again last week, chirping exciting news every second of the day. But the most riveting for us? The magnificent Vera Wang tweeting a clue about Blair’s one-of-a-kind wedding dress!
