Gossip Girl Season 5 Episode 24 “The Return of the Ring” Recap
May 15th
The season 5 finale of Gossip Girl, aka, “The Return of the Ring” brought the much anticipated decision of Blair Waldorf finally choosing between Chuck Bass and Dan Humphrey. Let’s take a look at everything that happened:
In the last episode, Gossip Girl sends a blast of Blair’s diary entry that she got from Serena’s laptop when she was being GG. Now, Gossip Girl is sending them out one by one, hurting everyone in Blair’s life. Blair is furious at Serena but tries to do damage control by going through her diaries and figuring out how to spin everything to make it better.
Meanwhile Serena emails Gossip Girl and tells her she’ll do anything to make it stop. Serena then gets a call from Dan and immediately apologizes about the blasts. Dan doesn’t know what she’s talking about because Blair stole his phone. But now he knows and is upset. He tells B that he needs to know where she stands and she has to tell him that night if she wants to be with him.
A blast goes out with one of Blair’s negative diary entries about Chuck. She’s furious and sends Gossip Girl some scoop on Serena that ultimately gets her fired from her current gig. The girls have words and then Blair kicks Serena out of the apartment. Serena is determined to get back at Blair so she hires one of her minions to help her with her plan to seduce Dan at the Shepherd’s divorce party later that night.
As all of this is happening, Bart Bass is easing back into life in New York. Rufus goes to Bart with annulment papers and asks him to sign them for Lily. Bart does, but Lily finds out Rufus was behind it and ultimately decides to annul her marriage with Rufus.
Bass Industries holds a press conference to announce that Bart is back in the family business. But while he’s talking he basically says he’s the only person running the company now, leaving Chuck to feel that everything he’s worked for has been taken away. Right then, Blair walks in – that’s right, she chose Chuck over Dan – and sees this happen. Chuck and Bart go outside and talk about this, and Bart tells him he’s too obsessed with Blair to run a successful company. Earlier in the show, Bart gave Chuck the engagement ring he bought for B and then left outside of Harry Winston. Apparently it was a test to see if Chuck was over Blair or not. And unfortunately he failed.
Blair and Chuck talk later and she says she’s being honest with him and she wants to be with him. But he’s all mad because of what Bart said. So he basically brushes her off.
Back at the Shepherd divorce party, Serena and Dan are hooking up in a scene that is eerily similar to the one of Nate and Serena at the Shepherd wedding in the first episode of the show. When they’re done, Dan sees that her phone is filming the whole thing and that she was plotting to do this the whole time to hurt Blair. Dan is furious at her, as he should be.
Later, we see Serena on a train leaving New York City. Next to her there is a guy offering her drugs. Looks like S is reverting back to her old self.
Another plot that seems to be thickening is finding out who the real Gossip Girl is. Diana sends Nate surveillance camera footage from the night GG stole Serena’s computer. All we can see is a person walking around in a hoodie.
Also, Lola gets her inheritance from CeCe’s will, but gives it to Ivy. In exchange? Ivy is going to take Lily down.
And finally, Blair goes to Paris with her mom who wants to have B work for her company. Eleanor asks her if there are any loose ends she needs to tie up and Blair says, “Nothing’s holding me back anymore. I know what I want and I’m going to get it.” Then we see Chuck playing poker at a casino and Blair sits down next to him saying that she’s all in (for her relationship with him, that is.) Season 6 should be very interesting!

The Gossip Girl season 5 finale “The Return of the Ring” is happening on Monday, May 14, 2012, and we’ve got a juicy new clip from the episode to share. Remember when Gossip Girl stole Serena‘s laptop and reclaimed her territory of being the only one posting the dirtiest dirt about everyone? In this episode, Blair confronts Serena about the privacy breach and then realizes she needs to do damage control before everyone in her life is hurt by what she said about them in her diary. So, she calls in Dorota who adorably says, “Every damming thing since grade school is a lot of damming.”

On her beauty must-haves: “Let me think about this one. I use Caudalie products and they’ve completely changed my skin. I’m obsessed with Caudalie! I use the Vinoperfect line it’s amazing. My skin’s been completely clear ever since. I used to have breakouts and acne around my mouth and on my cheeks, and it’s even getting rid of my acne scars without having to do laser treatments. It’s amazing, it’s taking away the redness and it’s the best. And then I use Sam Brocato, it’s called Constructor. You can use it as a shampoo or a conditioner, but it basically high in protein and it literally wraps your hair and saves it from all of the blow-drying and the product and the ironing. It’s amazing, it’s completely changed my hair. My hair’s thicker, it’s healthier, it’s been growing quicker, it’s amazing.”
On her favorite decade: “I think it would be…man that’s a tough call! I’m constantly in an inner battle with myself over this discussion. I would probably say be born in the 60s, live in the 70s and 80s. Hit them all! I think being born in the 60s, having the crazy revolutionary period with the hippies and the music, running around naked with flowers in your hair.”
On which show she’d love to guest star: “Breaking Bad! But it’s one of those things where I just want to kind of be an outsider looking in, I don’t want to get too close to my most favorite show on television, it could ruin it a little bit. That’s my most favorite show hands down. I’d love to do Shameless, or this new show Girls, with a really talented cast. What else is out there? You know what I really secretly want to do and be on? Ghost Adventures. I want to go on a walk through a haunted place. They do! They take actors and pro wrestlers and stuff. I should write them or tweet them. I want to so bad! I’ll send them this article!”

Gossip Girl Video: Sneak Peek at "Raiders of The Lost Art"
Apr 26th
Gossip Girl returns on Monday, April 30 with an all new episode, in which Chuck and Nate set out to find Jack Bass (who Chuck thinks might be his biological father). With secrets about his lineage floating about and questions about his birth parents still left unanswered, Chuck needs a professional to get to the bottom of all the drama and mystery. So which glamorous Upper East Side sleuth does he turn to for assistance in his baby daddy investigation? Waldorf…Blair Waldorf.
Watch a scene from “Raiders of the Lost Art” below for a glimpse at how Chuck arrives at the decision to invite Queen B onto his scheme team!
Chuck: The only way to get the truth is to find him [Jack]
Nate: Yea, well, unless you want to watch A Beautiful Mind again, we’re going to need to hire a professional — you know someone from the military or a serial killer. It takes a special level of crazy to go that far to hide your secrets.
Chuck: I’ll be back in a bit.

Get The Look For Less: Lola Rhodes in “Salon of the Dead”
Apr 20th
On Monday night’s episode of Gossip Girl, “Salon of the Dead“, Dan and Blair hosted a salon to come out in public as a couple. Blair wore a black embellished Marc by Marc Jacobs Rock The Boat dress while Serena crashed the party in a Temperley London Wanda Beaded dress. Diana also showed up to the party uninvited in an Alexander McQueen Cowl Neck dress.
My favorite look of the episode was Lola’s Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti Crochet Knit dress which retails for $1,215 that she wore with a Nancy Gonzalez crocodile bag and Zara patent pumps. You can get Lola’s look with Sandro’s Camel Knit dress for $175 and Jessica Simpson’s Francesca pumps for $69.

Cecily von Ziegesar Recaps “Salon of the Dead”
Apr 17th
Who better to recap each week’s new episode of Gossip Girl than author Cecily von Ziegesar? Find out all her favorite moments in “Salon of the Dead” (Season 5, Episode 20).
Hey People,
As Blair said last night, “It’s so good to be back in the saddle again.”
I know B was talking about rebounding into the Upper East Side social scene as a beautiful, smart, young newly divorced ex-princess, but as the episode progressed, I couldn’t help but enjoy the renewed fiery tension between her and Chuck, despite Dan’s constant devoted puppy presence. Blair and Dan are a great match of minds, but one has to wonder about the heavy duty pajamas they wear to bed and never seem to take off….
Favorite outfit: That beautiful navy blue dress Lola borrowed from Serena to wear to her non-existent Lars van Trier audition. We only got to see it for a split second but I love, love, loved it.
Favorite line: That thing Lily said about loving the Upper East Side because it has “People who are there just to open doors for you.”
Favorite villain: Serena! I love it when she’s bad. And she’s so good at being bad. Of course she’s so shamelessly enjoying being Gossip Girl. Vengeance is sweet.
Favorite mom: Diana. Once Chuck has gotten over the initial shock, even he will be proud to have such an über-hot mom, even if she does occasionally “bang” his best friend.
Favorite boy: Nate, as always, for being so ambitious, handsome, and loyal. For flirting with every girl he encounters, even his best friend’s mom. And for looking so very nice in a suit.
Looking forward to seeing what B and D are going to do about their pajama problem…!
You know you love it.
xoxo
