Who better to recap each week’s new episode of Gossip Girl than author Cecily von Ziegesar? In this week’s edition, she talks about how perfect Rufus is and how amazing Dan’s kiss was.

Hey People,

Now that I’ve slept on it, I’m going to say that I thought this Valentine’s Day episode was truly romantic. And how ironic: now that Blair’s a married woman she’s somehow more desirable than ever. Dan and Chuck can’t wait to rescue her from what must be the worst marriage in history. And she can’t wait to dress up all deliciously in red and break their hearts again and again and again….

Here are some of my favorite moments this week:

Best husband: Rufus. All that man does all day is shop for his wife. I want one.

Best lounge wear: Blair’s gorgeous red satin and lace combo with the bat wing sleeves. What else would one wear whilst sipping champagne and firing off orders to the maid?

Best hair: Georgina’s bi-color black and red tints. It’s witchy hair—so appropriate.

Best re-use of an old school tie: Nate. He should wear his school uniform to work every day. And I’m totally getting a job at The Spectator.

Best brushoff: Chuck dissing Dan’s flirtatious literary agent in the Empire Hotel bar. He was so not into her. Until ten minutes later when being into her might serve some higher purpose, like messing with Dan’s writing career. Nothing feeds the fire of Chuck’s desire like revenge.

Best kiss: Dan and Blair. Loved the way Dan had his lips ready for like five minutes before he actually took the plunge. And how he must have been thinking, “If I’m going to risk everything and do this, what better moment than on Valentine’s Day when she looks so gorgeous in that red gown? But if I’m going to kiss her, it’s got to be good; it’s got to be the best kiss I’ve ever kissed!” Who knew Dan and Blair could kiss so well? That one kiss made me rethink everything. So romantic.

Hope you get kissed today, too. Happy Valentine’s Day!

You know you love it,

Gossip Girl Recap: Season 5, Episode 15

Crazy Cupid Love Gossip Girl

In Season 5, Episode 15 of Gossip Girl (aka “Crazy, Cupid Love,”) the Upper East Side is celebrating Valentine’s Day.

  • Blair is Back – Apparently Louis didn’t trap her in a castle as we had originally thought. She’s back in town expect she now has a royal escort named Estee who is basically spying on her to make sure she doesn’t go back with Chuck.
  • Nate Gets Dissed by Lola – Short of needing a restraining order, Nate bribes Lola’s boss and gets her phone number to ask her out. She blames having to work and then basically disses Nate to his face (but in her defense, he was being creepy!) Georgina/Gossip Girl manipulates Nate into throwing a party at The Spectator and he’s excited because he can ask for Lola to be the waiter. But, when he calls to ask for her, he finds out that she has a note in her file saying she’s not to work any Spectator parties. Confirmed diss!
  • Blair and Dorota Play Cupid – Dan and Serena both separately mention to Blair that the best V-Day they’ve had was with each other. So, B wants to get the two of them together and arranges both of their lunch dates to stand them up so they end up having champagne and dessert on the house (er, Blair) together at the restaurant.
  • The Throwback Party Happens at The Empire – Chuck helps out his boy Nate and calls to get Lola to cater the party at The Empire. Everyone is supposed to dress up like their high school selves. Lots of Constance Billard uniforms happening (and Nate looks so sexy!) Georgina/Gossip Girl texts Dan and tells him that he has to bring Blair or else she’ll release a video of Blair. He says he wants her to go and help him and Serena get back together. But at the party, Georgina/Gossip Girl texts Dan and tells him to kiss Blair. He finds out that Georgina is the one texting him. But then! He kisses B anyway and the door opens. Georgina snaps a pic and Serena is also standing right there. Oops!
  • Ivy/Charlie is Back – She’s come looking for Lily and when she can’t find her at the Humphreys’ house, she heads to Nate’s party and comes face-to-face with Lola… who she knows! The girls were in an acting class together back in Florida. They reminisce and then Ivy heads out. But Nate drops the bomb on Lola that Ivy is basically stealing her identity with the way he’s talking about her. Creepy!
  • Chuck Hooks Up with Alessandra – After Georgina shows Chuck the pic of Dan kissing Blair, Chuck takes Dan’s book agent Alessandra (who was basically throwing herself on him earlier that night) back to his place. We can only assume she’ll be used in the war against Humphrey that’s about to happen.
  • Something’s Wrong with CeCe – Ivy/Charlie goes to this fancy house and a nurse walks in talking about the woman in the other room. Then the camera pans on a photo of Ivy with CeCe.

Gossip Girl Advice: Getting Out of the Friend Zone

Dan Humphrey and Serena van der Woodsen

Dear Gossip Girl, Help me get out of the friend zone! I’m really close to this guy that I like. He knows how I feel but says he doesn’t want anything but friendship. But sometimes, things he says to me are REALLY confusing and make is seem like he does want to date me. Maybe he’s just scared because he’s never had a girlfriend? What should I do–just kiss him and see what happens? –Liza

Being trapped in the dreaded friend zone is essentially romantic purgatory. You’re not quite with the object of your affection, but you aren’t able to move on to your next conquest, either. Liza, my love, think back to a time when you’ve had a guy friend who was so obviously smitten. Why did you keep him around? Could it be for the silky little ego stroke that comes from knowing you’re adored?

My advice? Make yourself far less available to him. If my many romances with scores of stock market geniuses have taught me anything, it’s the concept of supply and demand. Diamonds, for example, are only valuable because they’re so rare. If you’ve told him how you feel and he doesn’t pounce on this 24-karat opportunity, cut and run, darling. Don’t act like a rhinestone when you really are a gem…XOXO.

Have your own question for Gossip Girl? Leave it in the boards and you may be next to benefit from her wisdom.

Gossip Girl Recap: Season 5, Episode 14

Dan and Blair at Airport

In this episode of Gossip Girl, we return right where the 100th episode left off. Blair and Dan are making a run for it … away from Louis and the wedding of the century.

  • Dair at the Airport – Blair tells Dan she needs to go to Puerto Rico to divorce Louis (she’s gotten inspiration from actress Elizabeth Taylor who had her fair share of divorces!) So, the two of them head to the airport where Blair realizes she’s going to be recognized (and makes a reference to Bieber Fever). She changes out of her Vera Wang wedding dress and into a cute pink I love NY tee. Dan buys her last-minute ticket but they don’t have their passports (doh!). Blair tries to prove her identity by showing the latest tabloid with her picture on the cover.
  • Louis’ Mom – Ugh, she’s such a biatch. She threatens Eleanor that if they can’t find Blair or she leaves Louis, the Waldorfs will have to pay the dowry that the Grimaldis waved originally.
  • Georgina Gets Creepy – We last left off when G was writing a Gossip Girl post, leaving all of us to believe she’s GG. Throughout this episode, Georgina is always behind every corner, sneaking up on people, etc. She even sneaks into Chuck’s apartment pretending she’s Blair. We were not too happy about that one. And she meets Blair, Dan, Chuck and Serena at the hotel in Queens (where Blair is hiding until Dorota can bring her passport) and reveals that Serena had the video that Gossip Girl played at Blair’s wedding. Was S the one who submitted it?
  • Nate Flirts with the Real Charlie Rhodes – Lola Rhodes (aka the real Charlotte Rhodes that no one on the show realizes yet) is a caterer at the Grimaldi wedding. She and Nate are talking after the event and he invites her for a drink. But she gets a call from her mom (aka Carol) and says something about being busy with school. Then lies to Nate and says it was her boss. Nate gets peeved that she lied to him, so he says he doesn’t want to hang out anymore. Later on Lola tells all of this to Lily (because it’s definitely something you should reveal to someone you’ve hardly ever met while you’re working, right?) and Lily convinces Nate to call her back.
  • Georgina is NOT the Original Gossip Girl – At the end of the episode, Georgina is talking to her husband and says that since GG abandoned her post after Blair’s car accident, she’s been taking over for her.
  • Blair Goes with Louis – In an effort to not make her family pay the dowry, Blair decides to go with Louis, puts on a fake smile and leaves for Monaco.

Cecily and blair

Who better to recap each week’s new episode of Gossip Girl than author Cecily von Ziegesar? In this week’s edition, she talks about how Blair should be with Chuck and not giving a fake smile with Louis.

Hey People,

I have to say I kept checking my watch last night. Didn’t Blair have a plane to catch—with Chuck? Sigh. Guess that didn’t happen. We’ll have to resign ourselves to weeks of her tortuous new life, locked in a castle in Monaco, eating bonbons and macarons, and pining miserably away for Chuck, when she could have had him, time and time again.

You know what I always say though? Happy people are boring. And our B is anything but boring.

Here are some of my favorite moments from last night’s episode:

Favorite outfit: Blair’s I heart NY outfit purchased in the airport gift shop. She actually looks adorable in a simple T-shirt. Who knew?

Favorite line: Serena to Dan, “You just did.” Same hurt and broken-hearted line was delivered by Julia Roberts to Richard Gere in Pretty Woman. Which gives me hope for them still, because remember what happens in Pretty Woman? Dan’s going to be climbing Serena’s fire escape sometime in the near future, but not until she’s written a variety of nasty things about him in her blog.

Favorite parent: Lily, for seeming to be permanently on Klonopin or some such mind-mellowing drug, always looking lovely, with a vague smile and a drink in her hand, and always ten minutes behind the action.

Favorite music: Even though it was the Wedding of the Year, with royals in their royal regalia, Blair and Louis still had a DJ playing Like a Virgin and Moves like Jagger instead of a harpist and a flautist playing Mozart and Bach. Gotta love that.

Favorite facial expression: Blair’s sad, sad smile when she has to kiss Louis and pose for the cameras as they set off on their “honeymoon.”

I imagine Blair right now, locked in the tippy top of a very tall, cold stone tower, growing her hair. One day it will be long enough to unfurl out the window and touch the ground. Who knows who’ll be the first to attempt the climb?

You know you love it,
xoxo -CvZ

Dan and Blair’s Kiss at The Met

Spotted: Blair bolting from the Met, but it’s not Chuck nor Louis who’s helping her make her exodus. None other than Lonely Boy was behind B’s mad dash, and I hear that they finished their flight with a serious lip lock. Could Blair’s love life be making another right turn, this time into (gasp!) Brooklyn? XOXO

Michelle Trachtenberg Shocked by Gossip Girl Cliffhanger

Georgina Sparks as Alter Girl

Remember when the last scene of the 100th episode of Gossip Girl made us all scream “OMFG!”? Well, turns out it also shocked Michelle Trachtenberg, too!

Michelle, who plays Georgina Sparks on the show, told Us Weekly that she was very shocked by the last scene where it is revealed that her character is writing the Gossip Girl post (alluding to the fact that she’s Gossip Girl).

“I knew the 100th episode would end with a bang, but definitely didn’t expect that!” Michelle said. She also said that it was probably a really big surprise for her castmates.

“On the ‘big secret episodes,’ only the people involved in the last scene get the script pages,” she told Us, “I was the only one in the scene!”

Were you totally shocked by the scene? Let’s talk about it in the comments below!
