In honor of Gossip Girl author Cecily von Ziegesar’s series It Girl, each week we celebrate the women who are making headlines. This week, we look at the ladies who are in the spotlight for their acting roles! Check them out below:
- Katharine McPhee – Who doesn’t love a good musical? This former American Idol contestant stars in the new series Smash which follows two Broadway hopefuls as they compete to snag a part as Marilyn Monroe. The show, which premiered on Monday, received good ratings and reviews, and Katharine is getting a lot of praise for her role. Also, doesn’t she just look smashing lately? (Sorry, just had to do it!)
- Naomi Watts – The 43-year-old actress has just received an “honor” — as she’s calling it. She has been cast to play the part of the late Princess Diana in an upcoming movie about the royal’s last two years called Caught in Flight. Naomi told Variety: “Princess Diana was loved across the world, and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen.” We think the blonde beauty will play the role well.
- Rachel McAdams – Just in time for Valentine’s Day (to fulfill our need for an awesomely romantic movie with a side of Channing Tatum), Rachel is starring in The Vow. Grab the tissues (per usual) and either a girlfriend or guy who is willing to do anything for you and head to the movies this weekend!

Where I come from VPL (visible panty line) is a four-letter word, but giving the world an eyeful of your granny panty shapewear is infinitely, immeasurably worse. That’s why I won’t even poke fun at poor Taylor Swift who had a Marilyn Monroe moment gone wrong during her recent show and flashed her audience. Kudos to Tay for not missing a note and for bothering to wear undies in the first place. Which popstar could you picture going commando in concert?
