Not So LOL: Miley’s Movie Flops

I for one was looking forward to Miley Cyrus‘ new movie, LOL, since it–wait, it didn’t feature a shirtless Liam Hemsworth? Nevermind then. Unfortch for Miley, it appears that other moviegoers had the same whateverish attitude towrads the flick, which drew in a laughably pathetic $46,000 during it’s opening weekend.

Perhaps Miley should have concentrated less on her private life (and parts) and more on promoting her movie, no?

Anne Hathaway’s Crash Diet

Talk about being Les Miserables, darling. I hear that Anne Hathaway is hoping to shed 16 pounds in just 20 days for her upcoming role in the movie adaptation. She plays tuberculosis-stricken prostitute Fantine, a part that requires her to look positively deathly ill. Apparently AH is eating only apples and protein shakes and working out tourjours.

Would you be willing to starve yourself for a chance to play this iconic role? Or is a life sans croissants not worth living?

Hunger Games It Girls of the Week

Jennifer Lawrence at the Hunger Games Premiere

In honor of Gossip Girl author Cecily von Ziegesar’s series It Girl, each week we celebrate the women who are making headlines. This week, we look at the Hunger Games ladies who the world will be watching when the movie opens on Friday March 23, 2012! Check them out below:

  • Jennifer Lawrence – She plays Katniss, the girl on fire — and boy, is she ever! Jennifer was on the cover of Glamour and Seventeen this month and has been featured in numerous other publications. We also love all of the amazing body image messages she’s been sending by saying she’s never starved herself to lose weight. “I do exercise, but I don’t diet,” she said.
  • Elizabeth Banks – She plays Effie Trinket, and you might recognize her from some of her past roles on 30 Rock, Spider-Man, Role Models, and Definitely, Maybe. Was it hard for Elizabeth to channel her inner biatch? Not exactly. “So easy,” she said. “I love being mean.”
  • Isabelle Fuhrman – The 15-year-old plays Clove in The Hunger Games, but you might recognize her from the super-creepy scary movie Orphan. A fun fact about Isabelle is that she ended up submitting a one-and-a-half page back-story for her character. “When you read the book, it’s written through Katniss’ eyes and you really get to know who Katniss is, and you understand certain characters and parts of them, but I wanted to develop and figure out Clove’s psyche and where she came from.”

UnforgettableThis week’s “It Girls” receive the “Unforgettable” because we’re pretty sure no one will forget how excited they were for this movie! In honor of Gossip Girl author Cecily von Ziegesar’s series It Girl, each week we celebrate the women who are making headlines. This week, we look at the ladies who snagged a coveted Oscar nomination! Check them out below:

  • Rooney Mara – Nominated for Best Actress for her role as Lisbeth Salander in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, her character is a troubled young woman who is hired as a research assistant by a journalist investigating a decades-old mystery. Just as intense as the movie was = how intense of an actress Rooney turned out to be. And it showed enough to get the attention of the Academy.
  • Michelle Williams – When someone asks you to play Marylin Monroe in a movie, you say, “When do I start?!” Michelle Williams got the honor of portraying the legendary actress in My Week With Marilyn, scoring her the nod. She also just picked up a Golden Globe award for the same role!
  • Melissa McCarthy – Her movie Bridesmaids made us fall in love with puppies, Wilson Phillips and laughing all over again! Melissa is being nominated in the best supporting actress category for her role as the crude sister of the groom.

ClassicThis week’s “It Girls” receive the “Classic” honor for their Hollywood glamour! Check out more info on The It Girl book Classic here! And take the poll below to let us know who you think deserves the title of “Ultimate It Girl of the Week!”

Gossip Girl Recap for "The Fasting and the Furious": The Good, The Bad, and The Not-So-Kosher

Blair and Louis are all smiles while announcing her pregnancy on Gossip Girl episode 5.05.

Yom Kippur arrived late on the Upper East Side but it did so in style. From Serena trying to seduce Dan into giving her the movie rights to his book to Diana being a pain in Charlie’s (Ivy’s) tuches, Cyrus’s shofar-blowing holiday went from somber to colorful. Behold, the Top 5 OMG Miracle Moments from Gossip Girl episode 5.05, “The Fasting and The Furious.”

The Good: Blair and Louis finally took a step forward in their relationship by announcing B’s pregnancy to their parents. (B probably realized better now before things got really bumpy…)
The Bad: Blair’s future monster-in-law –ahem– mother-in-law embraced the notion of a baby Blouis…but then, because of Beatrice’s interference, went all Mommy Dearest on the happy parents-to-be and demanded that Blair sign a contract. Thankfully, Eleanor kept it real: “You’re still in college!”

The Good: Chuck and Monkey continued their bro bonding, and the two pals even visited a doggie park. C’est tres adorable!
The Bad: While Monkey-ing around, Chuck bumped into an attractive psychologist and tried to seduce her. But when she failed to nip at his blue-suited bait, Chuck realized he was being a Basshole. Chuck decided he no longer wanted to be a billionaire buffoon but a serious, respectable man. (Pretty soon he’ll have us all calling him Charles.)

The Good: Nate is advancing in the workplace and trying to build a name for himself by destroying the names of others. He’s no longer just another pretty-faced boy toy. (Oh. Wait a sec…)
The Bad:  Diana Payne disrupted Upper East Side hierarchy by meddling in Gossip Girl’s affairs and launching a new gossip site called NY Spectator. And she later ignited an actual fire by literally burning her scandalous past to a crisp. Archibald’s cougar better retract her claws because hell hath no fury like a blogger scorned.

The Good: Serena stopped sabotaging herself long enough to confess to Dan that he’s the love of her life. Apparently, honesty is the best policy because her straightforward words made Lonely Boy get all tingly, and he granted her boss the movie rights to Inside.
The Bad: S lived up to her ‘Sabrina” alter ego by leaking false info about Dan’s movie book rights, and making a fool of herself in front of her former flame and her go-getter boss.

*The Not-So-Kosher*: Despite all her scandals being prime fodder for Gossip Girl, Princess-to-be Blair still hasn’t invested in a proper safe. Hence, Prince Louis decided to go digging into the depths of his lady’s drawer and uncovered… her patched up paternity test results! Moreover, he’s somehow in cahoots with Chuck’s new psychologist. Is he going to find out about B’s former indiscretions? Is Baby Blouis actually a Baby Chair?  One thing is for sure though– Blair’s royal ascension plans are all schmeared up.

Will Louis discover some unsavory truths about the little bun baking in B’s oven? Why is Diana trying to imitate Gossip Girl? Are Dan and Serena going to rekindle their on-again/off-again romance? Leave your season five predictions in the comments and/or comment in the Gossip Girl viewers lounge!

Selena Wins Over Justin’s Mom

The way to a man’s heart isn’t through his stomach…it’s through his mother. Selena Gomez knows this all too well and charmed the pants off Justin Bieber’s mama, Patti, who recently tweeted that Sel and her BFF Taylor Swift are “great role models.” Do you think Mama Bieber is secretly hoping SL and her son will take a trip down the aisle?
