Who better to recap each week’s new episode of Gossip Girl than author Cecily von Ziegesar? In this week’s edition, she tries to decide which Blair Waldorf quote is better (not an easy task, as we all know!)

Hey people,

Had an awesome time last night, tweeting while watching, although I got so into my running commentary I had to do a little review session this morning, just to make sure I didn’t miss anything. This episode had so many good one-liners, I’m glad I did.

Favorite look: Serena’s swirling feathers lurex mini dress. She totally rocks it, and it sets the scene for a host of crazy disco outfits throughout the hour.

?

Most questionable looks:

  • Chuck’s Kermit the Frog green socks and penny loafers during his therapy session with Blair. Would you want your man to wear those?
  • Sylvia Weinstock, aka The Cake-Lady’s enormous round and thick black-framed spectacles.

?

Best lines: As usual, Blair ties for first, with herself.

  • Blair to Chuck’s therapist—“I was a teenage bulimic and my father came out when I was fifteen. This isn’t my first analysis.”
  • Blair to Chuck—“Care to share how you went from… Charlie Sheen to Charlie Brown?”

?

Favorite moment: OK, so this wasn’t actually part of the episode, but my heart did a little hop-skip-and-a-jump when I saw the ad for my latest book, Gossip Girl Psycho Killer. It’s a really funny and kick-ass book, by the way. Read it! Thank you CW TV-land people for running the ad. What a pleasant surprise.

Can’t wait for next week’s drama-filled mid-season finale!

Namaste.

You know you love it.

Music Spotlight: Zee Avi

Zee AviEach week, we tune in to find out what’s happening with our favorite Upper East Siders. And of course, the music on the show sets the tone for the whole episode.

In “All the Pretty Sources,” we heard some great songs from Gotye, Feist, Slow Club, and Givers.

One up-and-coming musician featured in this week’s episode is Zee Avi, whose track “Swell Window” played during the episode that focused on Blair’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s-themed shower. The 25-year-old Malyasian singer/songwriter is getting a lot of buzz right now for having her song featured on Gossip Girl, but her second album ghostbird (it means “Burung Hantu” which means owl in Avi’s native language), is quite the conversation topic in music discussions online.

Fun fact: Zee was discovered on YouTube after she posted a video of herself singing for a friend. Thousands of people saw it, making her an overnight sensation!

Listen to all of the songs from the episode on Spotify now! Which one did you love the most?

Is Cecily von Ziegesar Team Chuck or Louis?

Who better to recap each week’s new episode of Gossip Girl than author Cecily von Ziegesar? In this week’s edition, she rates the guys on the show (and spills about which character she’s not a fan of…)

It was supposed to be all about Blair, what with her big bridal shower, but it wound up being all about boys, boys, boys…!

Hot: Dan’s bewilderment at becoming a girless hasbeen. I always like him best when he’s a little disheveled, with a 5 o’clock shadow and messy hair. And I thought he held his liquor rather well.

Hotter: Chuck’s endearing attentiveness to his new mutt, Monkey, and his newer mutt, Dan. Chuck is like a chocolate truffle, all hard and stoic on the outside, with a sweet, gooey center.

Hottest: Nate. Is it me or is he looking better than ever? Like the innocent baby face is gone and the handsome devil has arrived? He’s fast becoming a media mogul à la Rupert Murdoch, except much younger and A LOT more handsome. What’s next, a phone-tapping scandal? And whose arms will he fall into now that his sexy, older boss-lady has been fired?

Not hot: Louis. He may have a charming French accent, nice suits, and a castle or two, but he’s turned into a selfish, petty, scheming jerk. Blair deserves someone way better.

Best quotes:

1)      Blair to her disobedient Constance minions– “What is this, The Help?”

2)      One of the two random girls who show up at Chuck’s apartment to seduce Dan, explaining to Chuck why she’s wearing only a towel: “When he said something about a shower we were like, ‘Yeah!’, but he never got in.”

Favorite moment: Like Blair I have a penchant for Tiffany blue, and even though her Tiffany party was overshadowed by the Gossip Girl source scandal, it was truly magnificent. Love the Tiffany blue boxes with white satin ribbons everywhere. Love the Tiffany blue-frosted cake. Love the one box with the diamond ring in it. I almost wept when Blair and Louis were bickering, ruining that beautiful party. Blair should get a medal for not turning into a sobbing pregnant mess here and for still wanting to eat cake.

Best sign-off: At last, in a stroke of brilliance and desperation now that her very existence is at stake, Gossip Girl uses the sign-off from the books—“You know you love me….” I love it when the writers use my stuff.

Tune in next week for more passion, drama, hotness, beautiful dresses and swollen egos—namely mine. Actually next week I’ll be commenting live in real time during the show, via Twitter.

You know you love it,

-CvZ

Best Fashion From The Latest Episode? Cecily von Ziegesar Picks!

Cecily von Ziegesar

What styles does the author loooove from the latest episode? (Photos: Cecily: Cecily von Ziegesar; Charlie/ Ivy: CW)

Who better to recap each week’s new episode of Gossip Girl Each than author Cecily von Ziegesar? In this week’s edition, she tells us what lines she’ll be quoting all week plus what styles she’d like to have in her closet.

Best line: There were so many excellent lines, it’s actually a tie…

  1. Blair to Dorota, “That’s because English is your second language.”
  2. Serena to Charlie/Ivy, “You know you may be an evil genius?”
  3. Gossip Girl, “Spotted: the cougar and her cub in a pride war.”

Best looks: Love, love, love Blair’s black and white leopard dress and feathered straw hatlet. The look is of the moment, futuristic, and retro all at the same time. J’adore. Also love that Serena wears a feather boa to work. That girl is anything but prim. Couldn’t stop staring at Diana’s zippered-down super-tight teal wetsuit/ski suit of a dress. How many of us could zip ourselves into that? Amazing. Also adored Charlie/Ivy’s gold party dress with the red spangles at the bottom. Spectacular. The stylists are really pulling out all the stops this season.

Biggest Drama: Absolutely Chuck and Blair’s kiss, alone in the bar. Finally. And they were both so into it, too. OK, so she slapped him afterwards, but it was a loooooong kiss. I mean, they were kissing all through the commercials!

Can’t wait for Dan drunk-crashing Blair’s party next week!

You know you love it,

xoxo

Justin Bieber Coming to the Vampire Diaries?

Yes, my little minions, you read that right. I hear Nina Dobrev said that Justin Bieber was itching to guest star on The Vampire Diaries, but the show’s producers quickly nixed the idea, saying that they’re not interested in “casting a star.” Can you picture The Biebs and his signature swagger in Mystic Falls? As a vamp, werewolf, or mortal victim? You tell me.
