Who better to recap each week’s new episode of Gossip Girl than author Cecily von Ziegesar? Find out all her favorite moments in “The Return of the Ring” (Season 5, Episode 24).

Hey People,

I suppose I should feel sad that we won’t get to see all these Upper East Siders until the autumn wind blows once more. But these final turns of events were so bitter and so not very sweet that I’m almost happy for the break. Of course I always love watching the train wreck that is S, sliding down the slippery, coke-dusted slope into Bad Girl Country yet again. But did you notice that the entire cast was scowling right along with her? This is one big unhappy group. Let this be a lesson to you: the more you have, the bigger the mess.

That doesn’t mean you can’t look good going down. Here are some things that delighted me this week:

Favorite Boy: Chuck looked particularly handsome and vulnerable and dewy-eyed. And we know he means not what he says, particularly when he’s talking to Blair. Which leads me to…

Most frustrating moment: When Blair told Chuck she loved him, and he didn’t just shut up and kiss her.

Prettiest lips: I want the lip gloss B was wearing when she wore that raspberry pink blazer with the big flower brooch. Her lips looked berry, berry spectacular.

Most Please-Tell-Me-You’re-Not-Falling-For-This Moment: When Serena was like, “Will you unzip me Dan? Don’t worry, I’m wearing a slip.” Since when do you go to the Campbell Apartment to dry off when someone spills a drink on you? Next time try the ladies room.

Meanest Eyebrows: Lily’s. They get thinner and more severely sculpted the more selfish and power-hungry she becomes. By the time she gets back together with Bart she’ll be totally eyebrowless and will have to tattoo them on.

Best Dress: Blair’s geranium red number with sparkly gold circles at the casino in Paris in her final scene. She was playing it all demure, but she was dressed to slay.

Best I’m-Too-Messed-Up-To-Even-Talk-Straight Slur: Serena in the final scene. It’s fun to watch history repeat itself. So, so much fun.

Will D ever return from Rome? Will he and Georgina get involved for real this time? Will she convince him to cut his hair? Will B win Chuck’s hand at blackjack, steal his heart back, and put a ring on it in Paris? Will we ever see Rufus again? Will S fall down in a drug-addled haze, get amnesia, and return to New York thinking she’s Jenny Humphrey? Will B and S remember that they both used to be in love with Nate back in high school, and realize how much he misses them?!

Rumor has it there’s only one season left to go. But let’s not let that ruin our summers. As if anything could.

You know you love it,

xoxo -CvZ

Gossip Girl Fans React To Blair Choosing Chuck

Chuck and Blair at a casino

In “The Return of the Ring,” the season 5 finale of Gossip Girl, Blair Waldorf made her decision about being with Chuck Bass over Dan Humphrey. Chuck and Blair aren’t 100% together though. Bart Bass told Chuck that he’s too obsessed with Blair to run a successful business, making Chuck rethink his love for B. And when she tells him she wants to be with him, he says “I always put you first, and you bet against me every time.”

Then, at the end of the episode, we see Blair joining Chuck at a casino. She sits next to him, places some chips forward and says, “You said I always bet against you, but this time I’m all in.”

Twitter blew up after that scene with some happy Chair and disappointed Dair fans. Check out some of the comments:

  • “Blair made the right choice. And the way she did it was awesome! That was exactly the way it should be!” – @vivi_niemann
  • “I love Blair’s choice, I’ve always wanted them to be together. She better get her man.” #ChuckBass – @WilbetteM
  • “My wish has come true, I wanna see Blair fight for Chuck!” – @jeeldesai

Gossip Girl Season 5, Episode 23 “The Fugitives” Recap

The Fugitives Ivy and Lola

With only one more episode in Season 5 of Gossip Girl, the writers have pulled out all the stops and jam-packed “The Fugitives” with juicy drama and schemes. Let’s dive deeper into this episode:

  • Chuck Finds Out Why Bart Is Still Alive – Bart Bass tells Chuck he had a lot of dirt on a competitor of his, and found out the guy was planning on killing him because of that. He knew that he had to make him think he was dead for the safety of him and his family. So, when he was in the hospital after the accident, he knew that was the perfect chance. Chuck asks him how he lead everyone to believe he was dead. “Did you pay a doctor?” “What did we bury in that coffin?” Bart doesn’t divulge much. And unfortunately, he says he has to leave. Chuck isn’t happy about that so he wants to find the man who tried to kill him. He goes to his private investigator Andrew and asks him to help. But Andrew declines and said it would be a waste of time.
  • Blair Has to Choose Over Dan and Chuck – Dan gets another shot at going to Rome and this time he can take B. She finally agrees to go with him, but they have to be approved by an alumnus of the program. But Blair finds out that Bart is trying to leave town and wants to help Chuck. So, right before the person comes to interview her and Dan, she says they need gelato and runs out to be by Chuck’s side.
  • Diana Makes a Deal With Chuck – Diana knows who tried to kill Bart and will tell him as long as word doesn’t get out about the sex party she was caught hosting in last week’s episode. Chuck talks to Nate and he agrees to keep quiet. Diana tells Chuck that the competitor is a guy named Mason Nevins and he has a standing appointment with some of her twin prostitutes. She gives Chuck the address and tells him he can blackmail him if he gets a picture of Mason in the act. But, right after Diana tells Chuck this, she gets a call from a reporter at the New York Times who has been tipped off by Lola about the prostitution party. Diana ends her deal with Chuck, and he gets mad at Nate and Lola for letting this happen.
  • Blair Plots to Help Catch Mason – She’s supposed to be at the interview with Dan, but she sends Serena to be her in her place. S hilariously BS’s her way as B — enough to get approved by the alumnus. Back to the plot against Mason… Lola brings Ivy to be her twin in the plan to catch Mason in the act. Hilarious moment: Ivy says, “I’d love to get back in the gang.” Blair replies, “Just to clarify, in order to be back in the gang, you would have to be in the gang to begin with.” But they allow Ivy to stay and the girls dress up like prostitutes in the hotel room. Chuck’s private investigator Andrew walks in and tells the girls Chuck said the whole thing is called off because Mason is on to him. They all head back to the mansion where the sex party was and look for Chuck. He comes in with his security team and Bart Bass, and they question Andrew. Turns out, he got too much dirt on Mason, and Mason was going to hurt him and his family if he didn’t help him get rid of Bart. They staged the whole accident and Andrew knew when to jump out of the car. The security team comes in right at that moment, saying they got the whole thing on tape. Buh bye, traitor!
  • Gossip Girl Has Some Major Dirt on Blair – Gossip Girl is finally back after stealing Serena’s laptop, and she sends a blast out with an entry from Blair’s diary. It alludes to the fact that Dan is about to say “I love you,” to her but she doesn’t know how she feels about that. And how did Gossip Girl get this? None other than Serena. The friendship war is about to begin…

The Top 5 Gossip Girl Schemes (So Far!)

Everyone loves a good Gossip Girl scheme, right? Since the whole gang (minus Dan) will be plotting together again in “Raiders of the Lost Art,” we’re nostalgic for some of the past schemes seen on the show.

Besides the recent ones including Georgina Sparks hacking into Gossip Girl’s blog and Ivy Dickens posing as Charlie Rhodes to help Carol get her trust fund unlocked, let’s go way back to the time Lily got Serena’s teacher Ben Donovan fired, Vanessa/Jenny/Juliet drugging S, and the pool party that should have gotten the whole crew in trouble.

Check out the gallery below and tell us what your favorite Gossip Girl scheme has been so far!

Serena and Crew Break Into The Pool

Serena gets a key to the school pool and invites everyone to a party there one night. A guest gets into a fight and gets knocked out. They have to call 911 and they get caught. The school is looking for someone to confess and everyone is looking out for everyone. Nate confesses thinking that it was Blair. Bart Bass later tells Serena that he made some calls on her behalf and made a donation toward the new van der Woodsen-Bass library to get her off the hook.

Lily Gets Ben Donovan Fired

Lily hears that Serena and her teacher Ben are rumored to be together. Lily has Ben charged with transporting a minor across state lines and statutory rape. Although Serena never signed an affidavit confirming that he did so (Lily forged her signature). In order to keep this scandal out of the papers, he is offered a plea bargain which states that he will spend five years in prison.

Vanessa, Jenny, and Juliet Drug Serena

A drugged and distressed Serena wakes up in a motel filled with pills and liquor bottles and calls 911 for help. Turns out Vanessa, Jenny and Juliet (Ben’s sister) drugged her and the plan went too far.

Georgina Hacks Gossip Girl’s Site

After the Chuck and Blair car accident, Gossip Girl goes off the radar. Then, we find out that Georgina has hacked into her account and is posting as GG.

Ivy Dickens Poses as Charlie Rhodes

In order to get her daughter’s trust fund, Carol hires actress Ivy Dickens to pose as Charlie. She infiltrates the Rhodes family and has everyone believing she’s Charlie. When CeCe dies around the same time everyone finds out about her lie, they find out that CeCe has left the family fortune to Ivy (not Charlie — IVY!)

Producers’ Preview: “Salon Of The Dead”

Lola Rhodes and Serena van der Woodsen Gossip Girl Salon of the Dead

Can’t wait for what’s going to happen in Season 5, Episode 20 of Gossip Girl“Salon Of The Dead”? Well, here’s a sneak peek of all the juicy drama that’s about to go down.

To celebrate their official coming out as a couple, Blair and Dan host a glamorous British-themed Salon, including guests Julian Tepper and Jenna Gribbon (founders of The Oracle Club). Lola (guest star Ella Rae Peck) lands the audition of a lifetime, but Gossip Girl may have other plans for the Upper East Side’s latest It Girl. Meanwhile, Lily and Rufus disagree over the best way to handle the Ivy situation, and Serena and Diana face-off over secrets they both would prefer remain secrets.

Gossip Girl story editor Natalie Krinskey, said “We read about a salon in New York City called the Oracle Club – we thought it’d be the perfect kind of thing to simulate for Dan and Blair, something they would really do. I think they’re really hitting their rhythm as a couple in this episode. I this time they’re kind of flourishing, full-throttle.”

Executive producer Joshua Safran gave insight about other plot lines that we’ll see in the episode. “Lola does not like how Gossip Girl treated her last week and has a suspicion that Gossip Girl might not be Gossip Girl right now and wants to try to prove her suspicion. And of course that doesn’t sit well with Serena.

“Also Rufus and Lily, they’re relationships have had their ups and downs but for the most part they’ve been together. They really are hitting some major stumping blocks.”

Check out the producers’ preview below. What do you think is going to happen in this episode? Leave a comment to share your thoughts.

Exec Producer Joshua Safran Gives The Scoop on “Con Heir”

Tonight’s the night! Gossip Girl returns with an all new episode “Con Heir” after its hiatus. The last time we saw the Upper East Siders in “The Princess Dowry” episode, Dan and Blair decided to be together. Tonight’s episode focuses on their sexcapades (or lack thereof…!)

But much more is happening in the story line. We chatted with GG executive producer Joshua Safran to find out what we can expect tonight and the rest of the season.

Check out the scoop in the gallery below.

On the Chuck/ Blair/ Dan triangle

“Dan has loved Blair from afar for a while but has also been her friend first before she really even knew his feelings and then realized that she had them herself. So I think their relationship is one that comes out of mutual friendship, whereas her relationship with Chuck wasn’t really a friendship. They were sort of antagonists with each other that kind of got turned on by that. I think as Blair comes out of the cloud that was being a princess and realizing that wasn’t what she wanted, it will be interesting to see this dynamic between what’s it like to date a friend versus date somebody who has a lot of drama. Blair will make a final decision. She will decide what she wants for herself. It will be clear in the finale.”

On Chuck’s Solo Story Line

“Chuck’s upcoming story is an emotional one for him. He is trying to sort things out for himself. Whenever he is in a place where he needs help, Blair always wants to be the one to help him and I think maybe this time around she wishes she didn’t want to help him, but she still does. He is on sort of a search who in fact saved his life, and I think it opens some doors that he thought were closed.”

On Ivy’s New Status

“She’s back and fully a player on the Upper East Side and much the concern of everybody — not just Lily and Rufus, but Serena, Blair everybody. We feel like Ivy is never actually evil; she’s just motivated, you understand her motivation. I understand the characters think her motivations are evil, but she was just an actress who was hired to play a part. She did not expect to go in this deeply and did not expect to fall in love with these people. It’s not so much ‘I want money’ — it’s that she had a terrible childhood and terrible life and she would love to be a part of their world.”

On Nate’s Reunion

“Diana and Nate had a relationship that was complicated to say the least and when she left, she left under the assumption that she was the one that had added all of Gossip Girl’s sources and Serena and Blair know that’s not true. But Nate does not. So now that Diana is back and Nate is very happy with Lola, the question becomes what is going to happen between them once he finds out that Diana isn’t the one who betrayed him and all his friends.”

On Serena’s Possession of the GG Laptop

“The question is will she be drawn to its power or will she stay far away from it, and the answer is revealed by the end of this next episode. Then what she does thereafter you’ll have to wait and see. It’s a really fun story. We feel like this season has been about things being stripped away from Serena whether it’s her job, her friendship with Blair, Dan, so now that she has this chance at gaining some power back, how she uses it will be interesting.”

Debate: Why Chuck and Blair Should Be Together

We’ve heard your pleas and cries every week. The conversation continues on Twitter, on Facebook, at the lunch table, with your friends. Everyone has their opinion. That’s why we asked two very passionate Gossip Girl shippers to debate Chair vs. Dair! Check out Chair fansite ChuckAndBlair.org‘s editor Ice’s two cents on why Chuck and Blair are meant to be together (and find the link to the Dair rebuttal below!) Read the posts and be sure to vote in the poll at the bottom of each article to say who you’d rather see Blair with.

Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf Romantic Kiss

Every Monday night during an all new episode of Gossip Girl, Chair fans all over the world trend “Save Chuck and Blair” on Twitter. Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf have a huge fan base, and nobody can deny that.

The show basically relies on both Blair and Chuck for most storylines. Their chemistry is undeniable. Even when the writers keep them apart, their chemistry stays undeniable. There are plenty reasons why Chuck and Blair need to be together. They share mutual interests like burlesque, limos and scheming, but most of all their love for each other. Chuck has only ever loved Blair and Blair never stopped loving Chuck. Chuck loves Blair for who she really is. He doesn’t want to change anything about her. He wants to put aside his own happiness for Blair’s. And Blair loves Chuck for who he is.

Blair stood by her man all this time. She is the only person who can convince Chuck to do anything. Blair’s passion and love only make Chuck’s heart even bigger. Chuck also stood by his girl, supporting her to be the powerful woman she already is. Whenever Blair feels insecure, he lets her know how beautiful and amazing she truly is.

Blair:  “You’re all I ever wanted. I love you. I love every part of you. You’re the one I never want to leave. “– 5?10 “Riding in Town Cars with Boys”

They know the other one better then they know themselves. They know what the other one is thinking without using any words. They care about their friends and don’t judge each other. Chuck and Blair have fireworks in every scene. They complete the other one in a way and they know it too, because they feel incomplete without the other. He’s not Chuck Bass without her, and it’s not her world without him in it. They think and act alike, even when they are not in the same place.

Another aspect to point out is that every time Chuck & Blair tried to get closure, it actually brought them together again. Think about the scene at the train station in Paris and Chuck’s already famous apology earlier this season. Moments of them being totally in love followed fast.

Blair and Chuck have lots of history. They have had good and bad times in the past five seasons, as every other character on Gossip Girl. But somehow they never stopped loving each other. And they never will. Their love has always been true in the five years that we’ve known and loved Gossip Girl. But that is mostly because of Chuck and Blair and not for anything or anyone else. Keeping them apart is wrong because they are an actual pairing that makes sense.

Blair:I’ll always love you.”
Chuck: “I will always love you.”
- 4?22 The Wrong Goodbye

Chuck and Blair are for real, and I hope the writers will figure it out. People who are meant to be together will find their way back in the end. Remember, true love stories never have endings….
