It Girls of the Week: Grammy Goddesses
Feb 18th
In honor of Gossip Girl author Cecily von Ziegesar’s series It Girl, each week we celebrate the women who are making headlines. This week, we look at the ladies who are in the spotlight for their acting roles! Check them out below:
- Adele – This powerhouse vocalist was certainly rolling in the deep last Sunday, taking home six out of the six Grammys she was nominated for including: Best Song and Best Album of the Year. Even though this British superstar had recently undergone throat surgery, she still stunned the audience with her live performance of her chart-topping and multiple award winning hit “Rolling in the Deep.”
- Jennifer Hudson – Even though she wasn’t nominated for any awards this year, Jennifer Hudson astounded the audience with a brilliant rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” in a tribute to the late diva. The former American Idol contest took the darkened stage to deliver a goose-bump inducing tribute to the fallen musical icon.
- Rihanna – Newly blonde and looking fabulous, Rihanna tore up the stage with her performance at the Grammys on Sunday. Switching off between the up-beat dance numbers and more mellow acoustic work, RiRi showed everybody how to put on a great show! Not only did Rihanna have a stand-out live performance with Coldplay, she also took home a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “All of the Lights” with Kanye West, Kid Cudi , & Fergie.
This week’s “It Girls” receive the “It Girl” honor for their much talked about performances! Check out more info on The It Girl book “The It Girl” here! And take the poll below to let us know who you think deserves the title of “Ultimate It Girl of the Week!”

Cecily von Ziegesar Recaps Season 5, Episode 15
Feb 14th
Who better to recap each week’s new episode of Gossip Girl than author Cecily von Ziegesar? In this week’s edition, she talks about how perfect Rufus is and how amazing Dan’s kiss was.
Hey People,
Now that I’ve slept on it, I’m going to say that I thought this Valentine’s Day episode was truly romantic. And how ironic: now that Blair’s a married woman she’s somehow more desirable than ever. Dan and Chuck can’t wait to rescue her from what must be the worst marriage in history. And she can’t wait to dress up all deliciously in red and break their hearts again and again and again….
Here are some of my favorite moments this week:
Best husband: Rufus. All that man does all day is shop for his wife. I want one.
Best lounge wear: Blair’s gorgeous red satin and lace combo with the bat wing sleeves. What else would one wear whilst sipping champagne and firing off orders to the maid?
Best hair: Georgina’s bi-color black and red tints. It’s witchy hair—so appropriate.
Best re-use of an old school tie: Nate. He should wear his school uniform to work every day. And I’m totally getting a job at The Spectator.
Best brushoff: Chuck dissing Dan’s flirtatious literary agent in the Empire Hotel bar. He was so not into her. Until ten minutes later when being into her might serve some higher purpose, like messing with Dan’s writing career. Nothing feeds the fire of Chuck’s desire like revenge.
Best kiss: Dan and Blair. Loved the way Dan had his lips ready for like five minutes before he actually took the plunge. And how he must have been thinking, “If I’m going to risk everything and do this, what better moment than on Valentine’s Day when she looks so gorgeous in that red gown? But if I’m going to kiss her, it’s got to be good; it’s got to be the best kiss I’ve ever kissed!†Who knew Dan and Blair could kiss so well? That one kiss made me rethink everything. So romantic.
Hope you get kissed today, too. Happy Valentine’s Day!
You know you love it,
-CvZ

Hot Mess: Leighton Meester
Feb 9th
What a difference a day makes, darlings. Earlier this week I spied lovely Leighton Meester prancing around the Met in an outrageously gorgeous pink Oscar de la Renta gown. But alas, when it comes time for L to dress herself, we get…this. The Queen B turned up at the amFAR gala with furry thighs and soccer mom hair.
Could this be the worst look of the winter? Tell me another starlet who trumps poor Leighton in the fashion disaster department…XOXO.

It Girls of the Week: Best Dressed at Golden Globes!
Jan 20th
In honor of Gossip Girl author Cecily von Ziegesar’s series It Girl, each week we celebrate the women who are making headlines. This week, we look at the ladies who won our vote for the best dressed at the Golden Globes! Check them out below:
- Claire Danes – Looking stunning in a J. Mendel dress, Claire’s sophisticated look took our breath away when she walked out on the red carpet. And Gossip Girl stylist Eric Daman was in agreement. “I think Claire Danes in the J. Mendel dress really stole it for me,” he said. “I just thought it was perfectly tasteful. It wasn’t too over the top. For who she is and for her age, I just thought she looked fabulous.” Not only did she get our vote for one of the most stunning guests there, she also walked away with a Best Actress Award. Not a bad way to end the evening.
- Shailene Woodley – Even though she didn’t take home an award for the Supporting Actress category she was nominated for with her role in The Descendents, Shailene looked amazing at the ceremony in her sleeveless silver Marchesa dress. We’ll overlook the fact that she hit up the after-party in “five-finger” shoes!
- Angelina Jolie – While Brad Pitt can be the perfect accessory for any woman, Angelina held her own at the awards show in an Atelier Versace gown. The splash of red on the top of her one-shoulder dress complimented her other beautiful accessory: a red Christian Louboutin ‘Pharaon’ clutch.

This week’s “It Girls†receive the “Classic†honor for dressing with such style and sophistication! Check out more info on The It Girl book Classic here! And take the poll below to let us know who you think deserves the title of “Ultimate It Girl of the Week!â€

Music Spotlight: James Vincent McMorrow
Jan 20th
“Just because we can’t be together doesn’t mean I won’t love you.” – Blair to Chuck in this week’s episode. Did you get chills when she said that? Perhaps it was because of the words, or perhaps because of the music playing in the background.
This week’s music spotlight goes to James Vincent McMorrow, whose song played during the last scene of Monday night’s show. The song was a cover of Chis Isaak’s “Wicked Game.” Check out the video below to hear the song in full. And if you like James’ music, head on over to his MySpace page to hear more.

Cougar Warning on the Upper East Side
Jul 15th
Lock your doors, darlings and keep an eye on your man. I spied a real maneater prowling the streets of my beloved neighborhood just this week, rubbing elbows (and perhaps a few other things) with a certain Archibald. Could this cougar be on the prowl for some fine young flesh? I could tell you…but it’s so much more fun to make you wait. You know you love me…XOXO.
